Senior Technical Specialist - AXIS Division
Job Description
The successful candidate will act as a technical resource for departments and clients, will troubleshoot technical problems related to the database, application software and system performance and will liaise with our UniVerse supplier (IBM) for technical solutions.
Job Responsibilities
- Act as an internal technical resource within the AXIS Application Support and Software Development groups
- Troubleshoot technical problems related to the database, application software and system performance
- Act as an external resource to provide technical support and service remotely to clients
- Act as liaison to UniVerse supplier (IBM) for technical support issues, providing precise problem definition and evaluation of new database capabilities.
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum of 7 years technical experience with UniVerse/Unidata/Pick database in a UNIX environment
- Experience with UNIX
- Knowledge of networks and communications
- Experience in a software company as a developer or technical support resource
- University degree or college/information technology institute diploma.

- Excellent communication skills with an ability and desire to share knowledge with other team members
- Well-developed team player skills
- Strong self-motivation - with a demonstrated ability to consistently take initiative on issues
- Talent for monitoring and managing problems
- Ability to cope well in a busy, changing environment and remain calm under pressure
- Strong analytical skills for problem-solving and troubleshooting software.
